Ridgewood’s ordinary fence application requires a property survey and is specifically not the form for a swimming-pool or spa enclosure.
Ridgewood: start with the right application
Ridgewood’s Department of Buildings and Inspections publishes a fence application that asks for owner and contractor details, block, lot and zone, plus fence type, fence height and post height. A property survey is required for zoning review. The form also says the finished side must face the street and/or neighboring properties.
Is this fence part of a pool or spa enclosure?
The published ordinary fence form expressly excludes swimming-pool and spa enclosures. If your project is a pool barrier, ask the building department which application and inspections apply before treating the ordinary fence form as sufficient. Bring the proposed gate details and the approved pool plans to that conversation.
A useful Ridgewood estimate
Mark the proposed fence and each gate on your survey. Include access from the driveway and the space needed for yard equipment. When comparing styles, ask how post height, decorative tops and sloping ground affect the layout that will be submitted for review.
